HOW TO REACH?

There is three methode you can reach Darjeeling, They are:

  1. By Flight: The nearest airport to Dooars is Bagdogra Airport, which is located 83 km away. You can easily find a taxi to reach Dooars from the airport.
  2. By Train: Dhupguri railway station, located 26 km away, is the closest station to the place. Many trains take you directly to Dooars via NJP.
  3. By Road: To reach Dooars by road, you can use either a taxi or bus, as all major junctions are well connected by roads. Start by taking a bus from Siliguri at the PC Mittal bus stand, and then transfer to another bus at Tenzing Norgay Central Bus Terminal, Siliguri.

BEST TIME TO VISIT

Dooars, a wonderful destination, offers various experiences throughout the year. Depending on your preferences and what you want to do, here are the seasons and their characteristics:

  1. Winter (October to February): Winters in Dooars are from October to February. During this period, the temperature ranges from 10°C to 23°C, making it a pleasant time to explore. The cool weather is perfect for nature walks and wildlife sightings.
  2. Summer (March to June): Summer in Dooars begins in March and extends till the end of June. The temperature during this season ranges from 21°C to 31°C. It's a great time for birdwatching and exploring the lush green landscapes.
  3. Monsoon (July to September): The monsoon season in Dooars starts in July and continues until September. This period sees a substantial amount of rainfall, ranging from 36 cm to 47 cm. Due to the heavy rains, many areas may be inaccessible, and the forests are closed for safety reasons.

So, the most favorable time to visit Dooars is typically between September and May, with different seasons offering unique experiences for nature enthusiasts and travelers.

Jaldapara Wildlife Sanctuary

Situated at 61m elevation, the Jaldapara Wildlife Sanctuary sprawls across vast grasslands and riverine forests. Here, the once-endangered one-horned rhinoceros thrives, and it's a rare spot to catch a glimpse of the Bengal Florican in India. Numerous other wildlife species call this wilderness home.

Gorumara Wildlife Sanctuary

Gorumara National Park, nestled in the Dooars Region of Jalpaiguri district, boasts tropical deciduous forests and hosts over 300 bird species, including the scarlet minivet, Indian hornbill, and peafowls. It's also home to endangered species like the Brahminy Duck and some venomous snakes.

Buxa Tiger Reserve
